We are only just beginning.

Mwenda Njoka, MBS, brings 30 years of experience spanning investigative journalism, media leadership, and Government service to his role as Group Managing Director and CEO of Cape Media Limited. He is widely regarded as a pioneer of investigative journalism in Kenya, having cut his teeth at Society Magazine during the country's pro-democracy struggle of the early 1990s. In 1991, he was among the journalists arrested when police raided the magazine's Nairobi offices and charged with sedition for reporting critical of the Moi government; he was subsequently incarcerated at Shimo la Tewa Prison in Mombasa before being released on bail, an episode that remains a defining chapter in Kenya's press freedom history. He went on to become a CNN African Journalist of the Year finalist (2004), winner of the Kenya Union of Journalists' Journalist of the Year award (2003), and a Kalasha Film & TV Award winner for his documentary on assassinated legislator J.M. Kariuki. He is the recipient of the Moran of the Burning Spear (MBS) state honour, and Founder and Executive Director of the Africa Centre for Investigative Journalism.
